Joe Nichols’ Single 2nd Most Played Song of 2010 “Gimmie That Girl” Scored High Marks With Music Fans

Nashville, TN December 8, 2010 — Joe Nichols’ hit single “Gimmie That Girl” is the second most played song of 2010, according to trade magazine Country Aircheck. The gold certified single hit the top of the charts in May, and became the first single of 2010 to hold the #1 spot on the music charts for three consecutive weeks. In fact, when Nichols topped the charts in May, there had been only six other artists since 2008 to have a single last three weeks at #1 on the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart: Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Jason Aldean, Trace Adkins and Taylor Swift.

Radio and country music consumers aren’t the only ones singing Nichols’ praises. In a recent Washington Post profile piece on Merle Haggard, Merle told the Post's Chris Richards that he sees Joe as “someone who will carry his musical legacy into the 21st century." Nichols wraps up a very busy year next week when he finishes his 2010 tour. His current single, “The Shape I’m In,” is already a Top 25 and climbing hit and the music video for the single is being shot in Nashville on December 10.
